[That sound of Daryl's snort was almost convincing, but fortunately for Enid she did have a way to read his emotions that hinted to her that he was not actually amused. She didn't comment on it though. Just raised an eyebrow while looking over at him.]
Yeah. It was when you were drawing off the herd.
[Him trailing off makes her feel a little suspicious of what he was about to say, but she went back to Alexandria and saw what happened with the herd they supposedly were leading away, and putting two and two together, she can only guess that is what he won't say. Doesn't blame him, really. No one could fault his group for trying and failing to lead the away.]
The same one. It was just before that. I came back with Glenn when the walkers were inside the walls... Then we took care of it. A month went by.
There was an attack and then the last half of the herd showed up?
[He was making sure he understood the order of events. What he'd gotten over the walkies was that some sound had drawn the walkers back toward Alexandria and his people were making their way back but they didn't know how fast they'd make it even if they were technically ahead of the herd.]
Who attacked us? Was it them that was honking the horn?
[honking being a misnomer as whoever'd been blowing it had been holding it down like the devil himself]
[There is the briefest of pauses before she answers, because honestly? She wasn't there to see exactly how it transitioned from the attack to the walkers inside the walls. The details of the event weren't forthcoming from anyone after the fact and she never really did ask either because of the unspoken rule not to talk about a lot of things.
It makes sense that noise would be what caused it, so it's easy to conclude the events are one of the same. And so she nods, with an outward sigh.]
Probably. I don't really know who attacked us or how the walkers got in or who was responsible for the horn.
Gonna have to ask Rick- Nah, Carl. Rick's been pretty cagey about details. Something spooked him 'fore all that bullshit.
[With the memories. And Daryl wasn't in the mood to push Rick too hard on things after all that other shit. He was happy to have his brother back right now. Didn't need to jeopardize that.]
[Her lip tugs to one side, creating an a sort of uncertain expression, when those words come out of Daryl's mouth.]
I don't know if Carl knows anything. And to be honest, I don't believe what's going on with Rick has anything to do with that attack.
It's something else.
[The Saviors. Those two words are on the tip of her tongue but saying them would only make them more real for her here too. She could only hope things were okay at home.]
[Of course she wasn't saying everything - she didn't know the whole of it yet. Just the Saviors, readying to take Maggie to Hilltop for a doctor, and then being tricked into and locked in a closet. Enid adverts her eyes at his stare.]
No... I don't know. Whatever it is happened after I was pulled here. [Again, technically.]
[His stare remained, intense, like he was trying to see right through her. Lingered for a good half minute before he dropped it and turned himself back around to stretch his legs out properly. He knew she wasn't telling the whole truth. She definitely had an idea of it even if she didn't know the details. But she was playing her cards very close to her chest. Which probably meant it was something real bad.
And that troubled Daryl greatly. Instead of saying anything else, he fell into silence. Worry and concern tinged with fear rolled around inside his head.]
[It was not intentional to make him feel troubled at all, it was just that it would make him more troubled to even hear what she guessed let along theorized on the matter, so she was just saving from that, she thought. And so for a while she let a silence fell between between them. What was she supposed to do anyway? She hadn't even told Carl her concerns, so telling Daryl now would have been only unfair and selfish and weird at the same time. No one needed that.
So she brought the glass of water in her hands close and took a sip of it, an action she hoped would deter any more questions on the subject.

What's going on with him?

(She said too much already.)]
