IC information
Registration Status: Registered
Height: 5'10" (177.8cm)
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Blue
Age: Early to Mid 40s
Relationship status: single; Drift Partners w/Mako Mori [personal profile] redshoerevenge
Tattoos: Many; Only one (a small devil) on the underside of his right arm, near the pit, is relatively easy to see. There are a couple on his right hand (a very small heart on his wrist and very small star near his thumb) that are also visible, but so small they can be easily missed and/or mistaken for moles.
Scars: Many; None are readily visible
Iconic Item(s): Leather biker vest with 'angel wings' on back; crossbow
Notable physical characteristics: At first glance, Daryl looks pretty grungy. He prefers dark clothes in the brown, blue, and black range. All of his shirts are button ups and most of them have their sleeves cut off, unintentionally showing off his arms and muscles there to great effect. His jeans are dark and if they don't have holes in them, they will within a week. His boots are black and usually pretty muddy. The vest he wears is leather and the wing motif on the back hasn't been properly cleaned in years. He doesn't particularly care about how dirty he gets on a day to day basis, though he does at least shower once a day.
His build and the way he carries himself practically scream 'redneck' for those familiar with the type. When he speaks, his cigarette-roughened voice holds that distinctly Southern States accent. While he isn't much taller than the average person, he does have a much more intimidating presence than most. This is owed to the fact that he's spent most of his life learning how to browbeat others with a glare and force them to back down. Intimidation is something he knows and is fully willing to employ when and where he feels the need to.
But despite that, Daryl is also quiet and tends to keep to himself.
As of Mid-Late October 2016, Daryl now regularly smells of a mix of "citronella, lemongrass, cedarwood and clovebud". It's a mosquito repellent.
Offensive subjects: Suggesting that Daryl is 'scared' of something will often, though not always, result in him getting in a person's face and staring them down until they back off. If anyone manages to see the scars on his back or tries to suggest he's struggling with abuse recovery, Daryl is as likely to go off on them about minding their own business as he is to completely shut them out and walk away like nothing was said or seen.
Warnings: Daryl has a temper, isn't afraid of confrontation of the physical sort, and is liable to resort to yelling to force people to back off or do what he wants when he's pissed. But it's when he goes quiet and gives the cold stares that anyone really has to worry about being injured.
Notable Personality Changes: Daryl's talkativeness (and largely lack thereof) has changed considerably from canon due to being Drift partners with Mako Mori. Her power to initiate a Drift activated during an even in October 2016 that led to their first Drift lasting a continuous 10 days as she neither knew how to disconnect it nor had the inclination to as she and Daryl settled into each other's minds and got more and more comfortable with each other. Breaking the Drift the first time happened via power nullifier. Following that, they started practicing initiating and breaking the Drift about once or twice a week, but largely remained in an Active Drift for the next four months until early March 2017 when the Porter sent Mako home.
Side effects of Drifting, even for partners who do not experience near-continual Drifts, include some personality trait bleed over. Their core personality and consciousness remains intact and recognizable, but traits from the other show up and become obvious to anyone who knows either of them well.
Daryl has most obviously adopted the following from Mako: work-a-holic when stressed, willingness to talk and explain himself more thoroughly, willingness to share more with people he doesn't know quite as well in an effort to educate them if they're being polite and inquisitive and clearly interested in learning, smiling more and not hiding it.
He also has access to all her memories and knowledge (including languages/learned skills) up to the point their last Drift ended.

Skills and Abilities
Daryl has no canon super powers, but he is one of many 'badass normals' within his canon. Daryl has become something of a weapons expert, above and beyond the familiarity he had prior to the apocalypse, and displays an accuracy with even improvised weapons that borders on being 'uncanny'. He's also an experienced hunter and tracker in the literal sense, as well as being incredibly observant and able to process context clues others often miss. Daryl is an experienced brawler, more on the dirty scrapper end than any kind of martial artist. His most common tactics involve tackling people and/or punching them into submission. In addition to this, he's a skilled enough mechanical engineer to build his own motorcycle out of spare parts.

    Powers
Power Set 1 - Symbolic Manifestation
Over the last two years since the end of his world, Daryl has carved out a place for himself in the new world and figured out who he is and who he wants to be. This effort has also unconsciously created imagery and ideas that his friends and family associate with him. In MoM, these symbolic associations have become powers Daryl can manifest physically to defend and protect himself and those he cares about.

    Flower Manifestation
Daryl has been given a supernatural tracking ability that comes in the form of plants, predominantly flowers.

When Daryl wants to find a specific person, he has to focus on them (if it's someone he's not familiar with, he needs to know their name [partial is fine] and either a) have a picture of them, or b) to have spoken with them long enough to remember their voice) and a trail of plants, usually flowers of some sort, appears. This is not a straight line of flowers, but rather a single bloom will appear within his line of sight and when he gets to the plant, he has to pick part of it. When he picks it, the plant disappears into a softly glowing pile of ash that blows away and a new bloom grows somewhere further on the path Daryl needs to take, again, within line of sight. Where it grows tends to indicate where he needs to go. Next to a door or on a window sill means he should go through them, up a wall means he needs to climb, in a sewer grate means he'll be getting his boots really dirty, etc.

He can also summon a flower plant with the express purpose of picking a bloom and giving it to someone. The flower will remain in a healthy bloom until that person crushes it, turning it briefly into the glowing ash before a trail of flowers forms between them and Daryl. If the person is able to follow it on their own, they can do the same as Daryl does. If they can't, well, not to worry, he'll be made aware of the trail and start following it on his end. Daryl can create an infinite number of these 'tracking flowers' to give to others, but he's not likely to hand many out.

How healthy the plants are when they manifest tell him how close he is to his target so he has a better idea of how far away they are when he starts tracking them. Nearly dead plants means he’s over 200 miles from his target; half-dead plants means he’s within 150 miles; etc until he’s within 100ft of his target at which point the plants are extremely perfect and healthy.

He can also simply manifest a particular kind of plant just because he wants to, though it will not be permanent. “Decorative” plants manifested will remain for no more than 24 hours but can be interacted with/eaten without any other restrictions.

    Wing Manifestation
Daryl has also been given the power to manifest wings for both flight and protection so long as he wears/has something on him containing a wing motif. (insp. size compare w/mako; daryl in white)

The kind of wings manifested depends on the wing motif Daryl channels this power through. Because of his choice to almost perpetually wear his vest, the majority of the time, his wings will come out like white 'Angel' wings. However, Daryl does have three canon tattoos involving wing motifs on his body: two demon-like angelic figures on his back and a devil on the underside of his right arm, near the pit. As of May 2017, Daryl also has one new non-canon tattoo of Gypsy Danger's logo hidden from view on his hip. He can focus on any of these to obtain wings as depicted, but when wearing his vest, prefers to channel his wings through it. His wingspan will never exceed his arm span by more than half (roughly 9-11 feet at max, about the size of an American White Pelican or a California Condor).

Despite the size of his wings, Daryl is able to fly much like a bird would, and carry about twice his own weight without being dragged down. His flight speed is generally comparable to a golden eagle: averaging about 30mph but able to go upwards of 80mph on a horizontal flight given the right conditions, and 150 on a controlled dive. To ensure he doesn't hurt himself just from flying, Daryl also gains some limited avian physiology to allow his eyes to endure windshere at speeds that high.

More importantly, the wings function as a shield generator. He can extend them or wrap them around himself and someone else (as many people as can fit within his wing span) to deflect any oncoming attacks. The shield generated is an invisible force that is roughly spherical in shape when his wings are wrapped, and more of a flat plane when they're extended in any direction. The shape and size varies depending entirely on how Daryl positions his wings, though the shield will always encompass the full length of his body and the 'edge' of the shield otherwise ending about a foot past his wing tips. When used in this manner, the more force, damage, or power Daryl has to deflect, the more energy it takes out of him. The wings cannot manifest if he's unconscious and will disappear if he passes out while they're manifested. First uses will exhaust him a lot, but with practice, he'll be able to build stamina and the ability to hold out for longer and longer.

    Tattoo Manifestation
Similar to his wing manifestation (in that he can channel his wings through his tattoos if he so chooses), Daryl is now able to physically manifest his current tattoos (and any new ones he gets) in part or in full.

Creatures manifested in this manner can be no bigger than Daryl is himself and the more he summons (the more tattoos he calls on) the smaller each of them is, as if his own body mass had been divided equally between them. For example: He currently has two demonic-like angelic figures on his back. With this power, he can summon them to appear physically to attack or defend someone on his behalf.

Objects manifested in this manner are not restricted by size, but by distance. They cannot remain as physical objects once they’re more than 100yds out from Daryl. This limits his ability to use any future tattoos to create, say, infinite ammo (should he get an arrow or gun tattoo) or to create permanent objects to block an enemy (like a brick wall). For example: If he did get a brick wall tattoo, he can attempt to create a 1000ft wall, but at 300ft it just stops manifesting and the further he moves out from it, the smaller it gets as the radius shrinks.

Daryl cannot otherwise manipulate his tattoos, nor can he create new ones at the drop of a hat. He must get them actually inked and they must be permanent, not temporary, for him to draw on. He can, however, get really creative with partial manifestations; such as giving himself claws or the tail from his two-head devil tattoo. His tattoos do not manifest with magical or supernatural properties of their own no matter what they depict.

Power Set 2 - Wildfire Walker
The Wildfire Virus in Daryl's blood that the porter previously made dormant, has now been activated and altered to provide a new power set for the archer. There are three main-subsets for this Power Set:

    Walker-Like
With the virus active, Daryl has taken on some minor zombie physiology while human.

He now has regular cravings for raw flesh and must chow down on some still living flesh at least once a week to curb those cravings. Animal flesh is perfectly fine, since walkers will eat any kind of meat. They simply have a preference for the warm, bloody kind that the living have in spades.

Daryl's senses have also been altered, with his sense of smell, taste, and hearing becoming heightened. He is more sensitive to the changes in what he eats, can hear the increased thudding of a heart when someone is holding their breath at ten paces, and he can smell well enough to know when someone has spilled fresh blood at around thirty feet even if he can't see it.

Actual undead – particularly zombies – recognize him as one of their own and will not attack because he doesn't read as 'living' to their senses. The generally mindless kind won't, anyway.

    Reanimation and Infection
Daryl has been cursed with granted a non-human, undead form that activates when his heart stops and he experiences what is normally considered a death for humans. He now, instead, reanimates as a Walker. Daryl retains his ability to think and use higher brain functions, unless his brain (but not the brain stem) has been damaged. In which case he is a mindless eater until he is able to feed enough to heal that damage.

While in this state, Daryl ceases to be able to feel pain and can continue to function as he normally would, but experiences an extreme hunger for fresh bloody flesh that is difficult to fight. Any flesh he does consume will allow his body to heal and eventually revert to his normal, non-undead form. The more flesh he consumes, the faster he'll heal and then return. The rate of healing depends on the kind of damage he's taken. If he's lost a limb, it'll take a lot longer than if he was shot cleanly through the heart. At minimum, it will take about 24 hours of feeding at least once an hour to revert.

Anyone Daryl bites while in this state will be infected with the virus and likely die and come back as a walker themselves for a limited time (with all applicable OOC permissions, of course. This is an opt-in effect).

Damaging his brain stem (where the Wildfire Virus activates the reanimation and form shift) or removing his head from his body will end his life and/or prevent him from reverting to his undead form.

    Lead the Herd
Daryl gains the ability to generally control other walkers and mindless zombies/zombie-like creatures. This is manifests mostly as being able to direct where they move and who/what they eat and/or ignore.

It's not a perfect control, but it's much easier when there are large numbers of walkers all kind of following each other and going with the flow than it is with a few individuals, especially when those few are spread out. The more centralized and near each other they are, even if there are hundreds, the better his control is, basically. And if there are like, 5 and they're all spread out across say, a 20ft area, he'll have trouble controlling more than maybe one or two because they aren't functioning as a group.

Daryl HATES this power. He would rather fart rainbows and pass a kitten every time he took a piss.

Powerset 3 - Call of the Wild
    Animal Instincts
Daryl is now able to shape-shift into a ghostly tiger-like cat. Full Control is not something he'll ever have over it as transformation into it comes with the loss of control over his emotions. Though he may eventually be able to 'force' it to trigger by feeding into the heightened emotional state, sort of like the Hulk.

As Daryl's self-control erodes from the stress of emotional highs and lows, his behavior becomes more animalistic. He paces like a cat, or curls his lips up like a dog, pushes his head into a shoulder to beg for comfort: these things are normal for him already. It's just that now it's all heightened and the more stressed out he is from something - the more scared or the more angry or even the happier he is that he just doesn't know how to contain it - the more prominent and more extreme the behaviors become. And the more he feeds into it, the faster it will happen. Until, eventually, he transforms into the ghost-tiger and acts on the instincts of whatever emotion set him over the edge. This could easily be to play as it is to attack, or hunt, or protect. It could even be simple exhaustion and a need to rest that he can no longer escape.

He is still aware of the people and animals he knows as friends while in this form, but fully human thought is difficult. So he'll be able to understand - for the most part - others around him and act on that basic understanding. It just won't be much more than 'friend I like' or 'danger to friend', etc.

He will have all the abilities (senses, strength, speed) and weaknesses (can be wounded and killed) of a normal tiger.

Once transformed, he won't be able to change back until whatever caused the change has been dealt with in some fashion and he's been allowed to rest long enough to fall asleep for ten minutes. He will automatically revert back to human - still clothed as he was when he first transformed.

He will not have access to his other powersets while in this form.

    Animal Communication
Daryl will now be able to understand animals and have them understand him in return. This is not a speech specific ability, but rather based on body language and intent, along with the occasional sound to make some things clear. This will not automatically make animals trust him, just give him a better chance of making a convincing argument for them to.
