IC information
Current Age: 45
Species: Shapeshifter (BobCat)
Role/Faction: Tracker; Cat Clan Leader; Hillingdon Clan; Rank 3
Strength: 2 (human) | 4 (bobcat)
Magic: 1; fae-granted ability to transform with clothes intact and on; lingering fae magic allows him to speak in animal form
Friends/Allies: While Daryl used to hold a very loose association with Hillingdon, events during the spring and summer of 2016 have led to him gaining stronger ties. He began very personally unmotivated when it came to politics, but while pushing for the Clan as a whole to gain more politcal power (so other factions will start to think twice about targeting them), has found himself with some aspirations. Mostly because he has very concrete ideas about how the Clan should be operating and one of those is not having a leader who is beholden to any other faction. Faolan's continued ties to the Night Council and choosing not to step away from his position as one of their Guardians sits badly with Daryl. It screams of divided loyalties and he knows he's not the only one who doesn't like it. But no one seems to be doing anything about it either.
He considers any member of the clan an ally and someone to protect if necessary, and will protect them to the fullest of his ability. As a tracker, his skills are quite useful to any of the Clan's hunters and he will provide help when asked. As of May 2017, he's become enough of a leader in the Clan to be named 'Cat Clan Leader' and is now responsible for all feline shifters in Hillingdon.
He is a tentative ally of Jean-Claude, Leader of Islington Nest, both due to the man courting him for aid in over-throwing Raymond Harris and due to the man outright courting him.
Enemies: Daryl had a deep seated hatred of necromancy owing to how the majority of his closest family were killed by risen dead because a necromancer wanted to sow some chaos in northern Georgia.
Early in the summer of 2016, he was ambushed and kidnapped by vampires and forced to particpate in life or death cage matches against werewolves and other shapeshifters. An event made possible by the assasination of the previous Islington Nest leader and the rise of Raymond Harris. Following that, he spent the later summer months hunting vampires in Nest territory and currently considers most Nest vampires only good for target practice.
However, due to events in the fall that led to Raymond Harris' fall in a Coup led by Jean-Claude, Daryl has stopped hunting Nest vampires for the fun of it (he will still take bounties against particular ones).
Relationship status: single
Notable physical characteristics: At first glance, Daryl looks pretty grungy. He prefers dark clothes in the brown, blue, and black range. All of his shirts are button ups and most of them have their sleeves cut off, showing off his arms and muscles there to great effect. His jeans are dark and if they don't have holes in them, they will within a week. His boots are black and usually pretty muddy. The vest he wears is leather and the wing motif on the back hasn't been properly cleaned in years. Most of the time there are grease and oil stains from his job and he doesn't particularly care about how dirty he gets on a day to day basis, though he does at least shower once a day.
His build and the way he carries himself practically scream 'American' (and possibly 'redneck' for those familiar with the type), easily confirmed when he speaks as his cigarette-roughened voice holds that distinctly Southern States accent. While he isn't much taller than the average person, standing at 5'10", he does have a much more intimidating presence than most. This is owed to the fact that he's spent most of his life learning how to browbeat others with a glare and force them to back down. Intimidation is something he knows and is fully willing to employ when and where he feels the need to.
But despite that, Daryl is also quiet and tends to keep to himself.
Notable magical characteristics: Anyone with the ability to sense shapeshifters will be able to tell what Daryl is. He has some very low-level magic as a result of a Fae granting him the ability to shift and keep his clothes (in August 2016). The magic has lingered on him and awakened power within him he is still learning to control, as well as giving him the benefit of being able to speak human speech while shifted.
Offensive subjects: Suggesting that Daryl is 'scared' of something will often result in him getting in a person's face and staring them down until they back off. If anyone manages to see the scars on his back or tries to suggest he's struggling with abuse recovery, Daryl is as likely to go off on them about minding their own business as he is to completely shut them out and walk away like nothing was said or seen.
Warnings: Daryl has a temper, isn't afraid of confrontation of the physical sort, and is liable to resort to yelling to force people to back off or do what he wants when he's pissed. But it's when he goes quiet and gives the cold stares that anyone really has to worry about being injured.
